Cookies
What this site stores on your device, why, and how to say no.
The short version
This website sets no cookies. It stores one thing in your browser, and it is gone when you close the tab.
Nothing on this site is loaded from anywhere else. The typeface is served from here rather than from Google, so no third party sees you arrive.
What that one thing is
When the opening passage has played, we make a note of it so it does not play again while you are still here. It lives in your browser’s session storage rather than in a cookie, it is never sent to us or to anyone else, and it disappears when you close the tab.
We do not ask permission for it because it does nothing except stop a piece of text repeating itself at you, and because it never leaves your device.
If we turn analytics on
We would like to count visits one day, anonymously, to see which pages do their job. Nothing is running now.
When it is, you will be asked first, in a bar at the bottom of the screen where refusing is exactly as easy as agreeing. If you refuse, nothing loads — the script is not fetched at all rather than fetched and told to behave. Your answer is remembered in your browser so you are not asked on every page.
Changing your mind, or refusing everything
If you have agreed to analytics and want to withdraw that, clearing this site’s data in your browser settings removes the record and you will be asked again next time.
Every browser can also block cookies and site storage outright. This website is built to work without any of it — nothing here depends on storage to function.
