Nomi Atelier
The entrance seen from the street: a timber canopy over a wide opening, a printed banner reading Issue 01 above a list — café, publications, records, art, objects, events — and the long room beyond it under draped fabric.

Issue 01

The café as a physical magazine

Issue 01 explores the café as a physical magazine: a space where coffee, art, music, publishing and culture overlap throughout the day. A restrained, gallery-like interior is layered with draped architectural surfaces, chrome, printed matter, records, objects and permanent projection mapping across the walls and ceiling.

The space shifts naturally from daytime café and reading room to artist releases, DJ sets and evening cultural programming, without losing its core identity. Rather than designing a conventional hospitality venue, Nomi Atelier imagined an adaptable cultural space in which the interior itself becomes an evolving editorial canvas.

Stage
Concept design
Sector
Hospitality, cultural and commercial
Scope
Full concept development
The long room in daylight, lined with concrete columns, plants and printed panels, with fabric draped overhead catching projected images.
The room, mid-morning
A woman reads a large book at a steel side table with a coffee beside her, against a wall of framed prints and stacked publications.
A reading room that also sells coffee

A room that has to be a café in the morning and a venue by night is a different brief from a room that only has to be one thing.

The room at night, full of people with drinks, the ceiling and walls washed in red and blue projected imagery.
Evening programming

If you are opening somewhere that has to hold more than one kind of evening, and you want it to read as one idea rather than three, that is the conversation we like having.
